As athletes, coaches, and leaders, it’s easy to focus on the scoreboard, the stats, and the highlight moments. But in God’s eyes, victory isn’t measured by wins and losses—it’s measured by how we live, lead, and love both on and off the court.
Paul reminds us in Colossians 1:10,
“Walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him: being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.”
That calling doesn’t stop when the whistle blows or the scoreboard lights up. It follows us into the weight room, onto the practice field, into the locker room, and even in the way we handle triumph and defeat.
At Rosedale Christian Academy, athletics isn’t just about sharpening skills—it’s about shaping souls. Every sprint, every play, every moment of discipline is an opportunity to build more than strength. It’s a chance to build integrity, humility, perseverance, and respect. These are not just athletic values—they’re Kingdom values.
When we step onto the court, we represent more than a team; we represent Christ. That means showing respect to opponents, submitting to authority even when calls don’t go our way, encouraging teammates in their struggles, and glorifying God whether we win or lose.
True champions aren’t remembered only for their talent—but for their testimony.
- Do our actions reflect Christ?
- Do our attitudes point others to Him?
- Are we walking worthy of the calling He has placed on our lives as student-athletes and leaders?
My prayer is that every athlete under my care grows not just as a competitor, but as a disciple. May our practices be places of growth, our games be platforms for witness, and our legacy be one of faith lived boldly.
So, walk worthy on the field.
Compete hard. Love well. Honor God.
That is the victory that lasts forever.
